About

Who's doing this, and why.

My name is Braden, and I'm making this site to help myself and other GMs use classic 5e monsters in Daggerheart.

Who I am

I am a husband, father, and nerd/geek. I first played D&D 3e when I was about 9 years old at a family reunion; I was both a murder hobo and that player… But I loved it, and when a friend reintroduced me to 5e with some of his other friends, I was hooked and pulled my wife along with me. Since then I have been a player and GM several times across different systems. With Daggerheart coming out in 2025, I convinced my friends to try it, and we loved it for its simplicity and ability to drive a story together.

Why these conversions exist

I’m a huge fan of both game systems. I have bought way too many 5e books (official and unofficial). Because I have invested so much time and money into the hobby and my friends are familiar with the monsters in 5e, I wanted to keep using them. So I’ve spent more and more time converting monsters since the first one-shot I did in Daggerheart.

How to use them

Take a monster and its stat block. Does it still fit the story at your table? Is it an appropriate challenge for your players, and will it move the story forward? If so, go ahead and use it. Hopefully it has the results we both want.

Getting it wrong

I’ve certainly gotten some things wrong and will get more wrong as I do more conversions. If a monster turned out too strong or too weak at your table, I’d like to know. Feel free to contact me at skeptic.emitter.7m@icloud.com. Tell me the story of what went well and what went terribly. Let me know how you think I could make the monster better. Maybe I’ll do another pass at it when I have time. I don’t always have time to run all of these before sharing them, so your feedback goes a long way toward helping me do better.

What's covered

Every conversion starts from a monster in the System Reference Document 5.2.1, the freely licensed set of fifth edition rules. If a monster you’re looking for isn’t here, it’s most likely not in the SRD, so I can’t convert it and share it. If it is in there, then I just haven’t gotten to it yet. Feel free to contact me and let me know it’s a monster you want converted, and I’ll try to bump it up in priority. The conversions themselves are built with the Daggerheart System Reference Document 2.0, and the license notices for both SRDs are at the bottom of every page.

AI

I don’t use AI for any of my conversions; they’re all done by hand. The only things I use AI for are building this website and fixing my grammar.
